San Pedro, Antofagasta,Bahia Inglesa,Vallenar,Los Vilos ,Santigo 9 1 12

We spent 2 days in San Pedro and on the second day we went out for ride up to the Lagunas Miscantiy Miniques, (a National Park). Which is some lakes at  4200mts above sea level .It was a great days ride of around 300kms return , with about 100kms of that being gravel .With the Tiger unloaded it was a real treat to really see how it goes in the loose ,  I tell you it loves it . We had a great ride, and lakes were just breath takingly beautiful with flamingos to top it off.
On the way back to San Pedro we stopped in at the huge salt plain of Atacama

On the way up to the lakes

Below breakfast in San Pedro

Above leaving San Pedro

With so much mining in Chile there is a lot of big gear being transported around

I'm 3/4 of the way down having crossed the Tropic of Capricorn just north of Antofagasta

Antofagasta a very nice mining city on the coast

Above the Hand that every one likes to get there Pic taken by . So we couldn't miss out on the opportunity , south of Antofagasta

On the road to Bahia Inglesa approx 480kms

Bahia Inglesa

Bahia Inglesa was a very nice little seaside village, with a great beach and feel about it. The Dakar was to race very close to Bahia Inglesa , so the next day we decided to ride out and have a look at the racing. But luck would have it, that the stage was cancelled because of to much snow up on the Mountains , that they were to come over (hard to imagine as all that's here is sand ). But we still went out to base camp to have a look and watch the competitors come in to get ready for the next stage the next days racing

Below base camp Dakar , they would not let us in

Then it was off to Vallenar , it was just a little mining town in the middle of nowhere

A little Coastal town on the way to Los Vilos  the next stop after Vallenar

Los Vilos another great little stay with sea views from our Motel

Then it was on to Santiago , which was just another day of Desert Riding with not a lot to see .

I love the desert but after a week or so it starts to get a little to much and you long for something green to turn up .
The weather has been just fantastic with big blue sky's and the temp just right (not to cold and not to hot , long may it last ) the perfect riding conditions .
The Tiger and I are loving it

Santiago

Today the Tiger went to see the doctor in Santiago , I hope he will not have to go to hospital .

New tyres , Air Filter , Fuel Filter (maybe) , and a Computer check to see if we can fix the Idling problem . A new oil transfusion and filter and he will be purring again , ready for the big push down to the bottom
