Ushuaia to Antactica to Buenos Aires 22 02 12

Ushuaia and enjoying a Zengotita  Cigar , what more could a man want after a long trip

They say it is windy down here , well i have had no wind at all lucky me . I spoke to 2 Brazilian guys who had got blown off there bikes heaps of times . Also a couple of young Aussie kids , the wind brought them to a stop ,  it was blowing that hard it was picking up stones and throwing them at them . I so so so  lucky

While waiting for the boat to Antarctica I went for a ride out to this Large Farm on the coast , very pretty

Got  to have a Tiger shot

Below Ushuaia
Some days when I got up it would be raining ,  then before lunch it would be snowing and after lunch it would be hot and sunny

Then it was time to leave for the Antarctic
We left about 6 oclock in the evening and it was very pretty going out into the Beagle Channel

We had a big Dinner , it was very calm and everyone was light hearted . I thought , I wonder how many will be throwing all this food up when we get out into the Drake Passage .
Well about half I reckon , within about 1 hr of dinner were throwing it up every where . It got very rough with huge seas all night and well into the next day , at breakfast the next day there was a lot of empty seats and for the next 2 days .
Below is my Cabin Mate Patrick from Switzerland , great kid , we had a lot of fun over the next 10 days

Below the first Iceberge

Our first landing was on a Penguin Colony , thousands of them . All very friendly and would walk right up to you without any fear

There were also lots of seals

All the young were still molting and had not ventured out into the sea as yet

We had 8 landings all together

The weather for the first 2 days down there was very cold with a lot of snow at times , but we braved the conditions

Snow on the boat

The Penguins were a real treat to watch as they scurried up and down the snow . Coming and going from there nests to feed there chicks

The smell took  a lot to get used to , even worse than my socks

What we look at each morning when we got up

Little fat Chick

Cigar shot

On the boat there was about 120 people

Then the weather cleared and was it beautiful

Above sun set

Just on our way through the Islands

The sea was like a Mirror it was so calm

Me and Che Guevara enjoying the view and having a Zengotita Cigar

There was just so much to see and all so beautiful
as you see below

We saw heaps of wild life , Whales of all sorts , Killer Whales , Seals , Penguins , heaps and heaps of Birds of all kinds

Antarctica was a wonderful experience and one that I will never forget

Then it was time for home

  3. I´m loving pictures. I enjoy biking a lot and I would definitely like to go to your country and cycle around.
I have a friend who travelled a year ago, she had an Buenos Aires temporary rent and met a lot fo new places. El museo de la Caballeriza en Quilmes seems like an exciting place to visit.
I am considering going down there in the Spring.
    I´ll let you know!
